'Unusual' Nottingham Forest decision questioned ahead of Aston Villa clash

Nottingham Forest supporters have been questioning the team Steve Cooper selected to face Aston Villa on Monday evening.

Cooper made five changes to his team for the visit of Steven Gerrard's Villa, with Emmanuel Dennis making his full debut, with Harry Toffolo, Ryan Yates and Remo Freuler also coming back into the starting XI. Serge Aurier also starts for Forest.

There are concerns among supporters about the balance in midfield and the strength of the starting XI named. Below is a look at what some have been saying on social media.

@DaveHo1mes : I’ve been pushing for another body in midfield for a while but I’d hoped that midfield would include Mangala and O’Brien. Plenty of physical presence but not a lot of legs to get up and down the pitch. Happy Dennis gets a chance, big game tonight and we’ll be backing #NFFC 100%.

@ThornStinger : Not what I expected, but fingers crossed for a good performance. Glad to see Tof back, Aurier looked good, hoping for big things from Dennis.

@NoSleepForTony : I don't want to be a negative Nelly, but I cannot get my head around that team.

@giz_nffc : Unusual side for tonight, didn’t expect that.

@McBrads95 : Ooof that looks a bit rough for a few reasons, least Dennis gets his full debut in the league for us.

@RETEPNALA78 : Confused with that starting 11.

@mallyslife_ : Changing it up significantly, an extra body in centre mid is a positive thing for me. Assuming Mangala is still not quite up to pace, shame. A big game for Dennis to try and stake a claim for a starting spot!

@GarethJWynne : Hoping to be proved wrong but that team doesn’t look the one.
