'Unspoilt' village on River Trent that fans say is better than being abroad when it's sunny

As the weather gets hotter many people are going on holiday or travelling to the seaside, but one Nottinghamshire village might "be better than abroad" when the weather is right. Near Burton Joyce, the village of Stoke Bardolph is situated next to the River Trent, and sees dozens of visitors every day.

Nottinghamshire Live decided to see why people enjoyed coming here so much. Business owner, Sam Moon, 36, of Leeds, has travelled a long way to enjoy the weather at Stoke Bardolph as he says "It's one of the best spots for fishing in the country."

Sam added: "We normally come down and camp out for two or three nights at a time. It's lovely and you've got this nice big pub. It's tranquil and peaceful up there and nice to get out in nature."
