Unseen impact of Celtic Champions League low uncovered in honest Trusty reflection

Auston Trusty has admitted Celtic needed the low of a humbling defeat to Borussia Dortmund to catapult them to Champions League success.

The USA internationalist suffered a heavy 7-1 defeat in Germany in one of his first outings after signing for Celtic in the summer.

However, Trusty was certain he was in the right place after noting the reaction to the loss on the European stage as he suggested the low was required to achive such highs of qualifying for the knockout stage in the revamped UEFA competition.

Asked for the highlight of the comeptition so far, Trusty said: "I'm not sure. You mention the lows and the highs.

"In order to have the high, we needed a low. Obviously, you don't want the Dortmund loss like that, that was one of my first games here.

"Me walking into this new environment to see a low like that and see how the guys react. I was looking at it and thinking, 'Okay, what kind of environment am I in?'.

"But to see the guys grind even more and just grind for results it really showed we have a backbone to the team and means a lot.

"To walk into an environment like that, that what you want to see and the kind of team you want to play for."
