The head of the United Nations’ Palestinian refugee agency has reported a positive start to the ceasefire in Gaza. Teams on the ground have observed aid and commercial supplies flowing smoothly into the region. This marks a significant shift from the previous 470+ days of conflict, with the sounds of children playing now replacing the harrowing noise of bombardments and airstrikes.
General Philippe Lazzarini, the UNRWA commissioner, emphasized the importance of maintaining the ceasefire and ensuring the full implementation of all elements of the agreement. He described this development as a crucial step towards achieving long-lasting peace and stability for all individuals affected by the conflict.
Lazzarini further stated that the agency is fully committed to alleviating the immense suffering experienced by the people of Gaza. Efforts will be intensified to enhance humanitarian delivery and provide essential support to those in need.
