The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) Commissioner-General, Philippe Lazzarini, expressed relief and optimism following the confirmation of a ceasefire and hostage deal in Gaza.
Lazzarini stated that many individuals had been eagerly anticipating this moment for the past 15 months, emphasizing the significance of the agreement in providing much-needed respite for the people of Gaza and facilitating the release of hostages.
Highlighting the urgent humanitarian needs in the region, Lazzarini stressed the importance of swift, unimpeded, and continuous access for humanitarian aid and supplies to address the extensive suffering caused by the conflict.
