Unorthodox actress Shira Haas shares beautiful audition tape of her singing Jeff Buckley's 'Hallelujah'

Unorthodox star Shira Haas has posted a singing audition tape for the role that catapulted her to Netflix fame.

Haas, 24, previously starred in the Israeli soap opera-esque drama Shtisel before taking on the lead role in the Netflix miniseries, based on the book of the same name by Deborah Feldman.

In the show, she plays Esther "Esty" Shapiro, a woman who escapes her ultra-Orthodox community in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, to move to Berlin.

The autobiography was originally penned by Deborah Feldman about her own experiences leaving her religious family and husband to start a new life abroad.

Haas posted her audition video on Instagram, which includes her singing a rendition of Leonard Cohen's 'Hallelujah' (remember when it was the unofficial soundtrack to The O.C.?).

She ended the throwback post with the message, "Thank you, everyone, for all the love. Hallelujah."

The song has become an anthem of sorts in recent weeks.

Jennifer Hudson performed a haunting version of the classic for the One World: Together At Home benefit concert and a Cincinnati doctor has also been serenading patients with the song.
