Unlock the lock: IAS officer's tweet for CSAT preparation attracts UPSC aspirants

Twitter has proved to be a good platform for those who are preparing for government jobs.

IAS officer Jitin Yadav's tweet on a puzzle has garnered attention from those who are preparing for the civil services exam conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC).

"If you can solve this then you will be clearing CSAT for sure. Best wishes," Yadav, alumni of St. Stephen's College and JNU, has tweeted.

The puzzle is about unlocking a lock, the key to which is a three digit code.

Clue to the key needs to be solved using the hints.

Yadav's tweet has received more than 870 likes and has been shared over 80 times.

How to solve this puzzle?

Many of the users have said it is either 150 or 420.

Deepak Dwivedi, Assistant Director, Indian Information Service has replied to the tweet with a detailed answer.

From 1st and 3rd, 0 common and it's wright place in 1st row.

From 2nd and 3rd row, 4 is common and it is at wrong place.

Now from 5th row , third no.is 2 and it is at wrong place.

Hence the correct Number is 420. Solved it, another user has explained.

Another Twitter user, Sindhusuta has explained why 150 is the answer. "First take hint4

Eliminate 7 from hint2

(2 case)either 4 correct or 1 correct

Case one: taking 1 correct and placed wrong

Use this hint along with hint5

We have 1st digit as 1*

Then taking the hint 1 and 3 together we have second digit 5 and 3rd digit 0

So ans:150(hopefully)," she has tweeted.
