Unknown creature found dead on Scottish beach sparks debate amongst locals

THE discovery of an unknown creature on Ardeer beach in North Ayrshire has sparked a debate amongst locals.

The deceased animal was found at the beauty spot on Wednesday, January 15, with footage of the grim discovery shared in our sister title Ayrshire Today's camera club group.

Several members took to the comments to state what they believed the creature to be.

Unusually, many suggested it was a snake – with one person claiming it looked like a large constrictor.

Despite the beach being far from a typical location for such a reptile, images appear to show scales that would be consistent with those of a snake.

Others stated the first thing that came to mind – given the location – was that it must be a conger eel.

It is understood that the find has been reported to North Ayrshire Council, who will make enquiries regarding its removal.

The local authority has been contacted for comment.
