Unique Grade II-listed home on bustling Liverpool road

The ECHO has taken a look inside an historic house located on a lively Liverpool road which has gone on the market.

The quaint three-bed terrace is on Allerton Road, where the famous stretch meets Quarry Street in Woolton. There's plenty of amenities on your doorstep in this area. Allerton Road itself is bursting with restaurants and bars and the property is next door to The Grapes, which is understood to be among the oldest pubs in Woolton.

Rising to four storeys, the house has a quirky exterior and striking red woodwork. The entrance is up a number of stone steps and straight into the cosy living room, which boasts a log burner.

The current owners have created an eclectic interior which fits well with the historic frontage and period features. The huge kitchen and dining area is actually housed downstairs in the basement. The rectangular room has a long central island and glossy white cabinets.

The modern appliances, including an American-style fridge freezer and built-in hob, provide an interesting clash with the statement inglenook fireplace. The bedrooms are spread across two floors; the "upper ground floor" has one, long bedroom, which is accessed via the lounge, while the first and upper first floors have two further bedrooms.

The master bedroom has built in wardrobes to maximise space and the walls throughout the house have been kept white to provide a blank canvas. The bathroom and shower room are also generously sized, with stylish touches such as panelling and floor to ceiling tiles.

The outside space providing by the home is quite a surprise. The back garden has a lush green lawn and plenty of mature trees, creating a green oasis.

The house is on the market with estate agents Homesure, which described it as a "stunning period property" which "oozes character". The asking price is £440,000.

Over the last year, properties in Allerton fetched an average of £446,500. The figure is a 9% jump on the previous year, but is 18% lower than the 2014 peak of £541,650.
