An event in Edinburgh is set to show locals how to minimise their plastic waste, and create something with it.
DOBA Studio, who are behind the event, gathers plastic waste from the local community and turns it into art. The workshops will take place in the studio at St Margaret’s House, on various dates across March and April.
Ahead of the event, organisers said: “Each participant will have the opportunity to use three machines: shredder, injection and extruder.

“They’ll leave with a handmade souvenir. It could be a keychain turtle, hexagonal coaster or a hair comb from the injection machine, a soap dish from the extruder machine, or whatever the participant would like to make, as it is very flexible.
“They’ll learn about plastic pollution, how dangerous it is, and how to reduce it.”
DOBA Studio says their mission is to reduce plastic waste, through various methods. They added: “Sometimes we do it through boosting recycling, other times by adopting zero waste lifestyles, from time to time we organise educational workshops.
“Whatever works. Seeing people in the local community as the key element to fix this mess, counting on people to bring the necessary change.
“Small steps, multiplied by millions. That’s how we can win our battle.”
