Steve Johnson, an avid fisherman and union worker, was tragically killed in the midair collision near Washington’s Reagan National Airport. Johnson, a resident of Waldorf, Maryland, was a member of the United Association of Union Plumbers, Pipefitters and Steamfitters Local 602, a union representing workers in the heating, air conditioning, refrigeration, and process piping industries in Prince George’s County.
Johnson, along with three other union members, lost their lives in the crash. The union's national leadership expressed their sorrow in a statement, offering condolences and honoring the memory of the victims. The community is reeling from the loss, as the victims were known to be close-knit and deeply involved in local activities.

Megan Davey, a friend who grew up with Johnson and some of the other victims, shared her shock and sadness over the tragedy. She highlighted the significant impact the victims had on the community, noting one individual's passion for fishing and hunting. The sudden loss has left a void in the town of southern Maryland, especially for the victims' younger families.
The entire community is mourning the loss of these individuals, who were valued members of both their union and the local area. The tragic incident serves as a reminder of the fragility of life and the importance of cherishing those we hold dear.
