Steve Johnson, an avid fisherman and union worker, was tragically killed in the midair collision near Washington’s Reagan National Airport. Johnson, a resident of Waldorf, Maryland, was a member of the United Association of Union Plumbers, Pipefitters and Steamfitters Local 602, a union representing workers in the heating, air conditioning, refrigeration, and process piping industries in Prince George’s County.
Johnson, along with three other union members, lost their lives in the crash. The union's national leadership expressed their sorrow in a statement, offering condolences and honoring the memory of the victims.
