Singer Jaymi Hensley has thanked fans for their support as he spoke out for the first time following the death of his “beautiful” fiancé Oliver Marmon.
Mr Marmon died after falling to his death from a hotel window, aged 33, while staying in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire, on 11.30pm on Sunday.
Emergency services rushed to the 17th century Hind Hotel after Mr Marmon plunged from a window.
Despite the efforts of police officers and paramedics, he was pronounced dead at the scene at 12.30am the following day.
Hensley - who was a finalist on the 2012 series of The X Factor as part of the boyband Union J - had been in a relationship with hairstylist Marmon, known as Olly, for over 14 years.
They were due to wed next month.
A statement released to the Daily Mail said: “Jaymi Hensley would like to thank all the love, messages and prayers sent to him over the loss of his beautiful fiancé Oliver Marmon.
“At this time the family would like the media to respect the privacy of Jaymi and Oliver’s family while they mourn the loss of Oliver.”
Police said the incident was no longer being treated as a potential murder and a 34-year-old man arrested on suspicion of the offence had been released without charge. The force said it followed a post-mortem examination showing Mr Marmon's cause of death was injuries sustained from a fall from height.
Northamptonshire Police said a file was being prepared for the coroner.
Mr Marmon’s mother Julie and stepfather Steve said words could not “express the devastation and heartbreak” they felt.
She said: “I can’t believe I am having to write this. No mother should have to do this.
“The relationship I had with Oliver was so special, he was my best friend. We spoke every single day. He called me mummy, he used to call me his guardian angel.”
