He will stay at a private hotel in Guindy in Chennai and meet industrialists on Saturday. "Amit Shah will meet the Chennai South Lok Sabha constituency functionaries and booth committee members at a marriage hall in Kovilambakkam in Chennai in the morning before taking a chopper to Vellore for the rally," said a senior leader.
BJP is eyeing 11 LS seats, including Chennai South, Coimbatore, Ramanathapuram, Vellore, Sivaganga, Tirunelveli, Kanyakumari and The Nilgiris for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections as part of the AIADMK alliance. Until Friday evening, there was no confirmed news about AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami and expelled leader O Panneerselvam meeting Amit Shah.
Meanwhile, Palaniswami has convened a meeting of district secretaries at the AIADMK headquarters in Royapettah in Chennai on June 13. The meeting is expected to discuss the membership drive and the party conference that Palaniswami is planning in Madurai in August, and the preparatory work for the Lok Sabha polls. Palaniswami has set the target of two crore members and the district secretaries have been given specific tasks on enrolment and renewal to be completed by June.
