An unexploded bomb has been removed from a street in Glasgow following an incident this afternoon.
Househillmuir Road in Pollok was locked down by police after the alarm was raised shortly after lunchtime on Sunday.
The street between number 386 and the junction with Dunside Drive was cordoned off by officers following a report of the possible "ordnance item" being found.
Several properties were evacuated and locals were urged to avoid the area.
Police have confirmed the street has now reopened and residents have returned to their homes after the item was removed by the Explosive Ordnance Disposal team.
A picture taken from the scene earlier today showed emergency crews in attendance as nearby Cleeves Primary School was opened up to locals.
According to reports a teenager caused the bomb scare after he brought a rusty artillery shell home.
He told Glasgow Live: ""I found an artillery shell in Nitshill, just around the corner from my house. Police said they didn't want to risk it and we all had to get out."
The boys mum shared more insight into what sparked the full-scale operation: "He was out last night and brought this old rusty thing home, I never thought much of it till this morning.
"It had a dome type shape and after police arrived we were told we had to evacuate, that's when we had to go up to the school and they've been in my house since 10am this morning."
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Househillmuir Road in the Pollok area of Glasgow has re-opened following an earlier report of a possible ordnance item being found.
"The Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team attended and the item was removed. There is no ongoing risk to the public.
"Residents have been advised they can return to their properties and officers will remain in the area this afternoon. Thank you for your co-operation."
