The Saudi Yanbu Industrial City has been recognized as a global learning city by UN's top cultural body for its commitment to lifelong learning for its residents and for introducing policies that promote inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable development, the Saudi Press Agency reported Monday.
The UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) announced the entrance of Yanbu Industrial City into its Global Network of Learning Cities, after selecting the Saudi city of Jubail Industrial City as a global learning city in 2020, SPA said.
According to the Ministry of Education, the learning cities project is implemented in partnership between its Continuous Education Department and Yanbu Royal Commission and in coordination with the National Committee for Education, Culture and Science.
The project aims to enhance inclusive longlife learning culture inside the society and provide all-out individuals with necessary skills to support citizens to enter the labor market in a way that contributes to achieving the objectives of the Kingdom vision 2030, SPA added.
