To lift spirits while commuting in Bangkok, the MRT Phahon Yothin station has opened a new 1,000m² space where passengers can admire a wide range of fantastic art.
As part of the Metro Art project, Bangkok Expressway and Metro (BEM) and Bangkok Metro Networks are supporting a creative community through an initial series of works by PRJ and The Jum.
Wattana Sittiwaitayaporn of BEM said: "Society, communities and families ought to have a place where they can enjoy creative activities together. Different kinds of art have served as sources of inspiration and self-reflection. We've transformed the MRT Phahon Yothin station into an art centre, where top-tier and up-and-coming artists can exhibit their works side by side. There will be the Art Learning Centre, where students and art enthusiasts can engage in free workshops conducted by artists throughout the year".
Additionally, Galleria Benetti will open the Paint Here Alright zone to provide lifestyle items, while the IWS Gallery and IWS Shop will allow art collectors to acquire a variety of works. There will also be live music performances and the 10ML Art Market.
