Unconscious boy, 7, rescued from sea and airlifted to hospital

An unconscious boy was airlifted to hospital after being saved from the water at a Dorset beauty spot. The air ambulance landed on the beach in the rescue at Durdle Door after an incident on Sunday.

Wyke Coastguard helped in the recovery of the child as multiple incidents were recorded in the area, reports DorsetLive. They were also called to help Lulworth Coastguard Rescue Team care for a woman suffering from high blood pressure and related issues on the beach.

South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust treated both casualties, along with medics from Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance and Coastguard Helicopter Rescue 175. The boy was flown direct to Dorset County Hospital by the air ambulance.

After returning to base for fuel, R175 then lifted the woman from the beach to an awaiting ambulance at the top car park. Another casualty needed help after collapsing on steps at the eastern side of the beach.

In a Facebook post, Wyke Coastguard posted: "A third casualty received assistance after collapsing on the steps leading up from Man-O-War Bay. She was also helped back to the top car park. Teams returned to station by 18.25 after another busy day."
