Nebraska offensive line coach Donovan Raiola agreed to a significant contract extension that included a hefty raise as the Huskers pursue his nephew, 5-star 2024 QB prospect Dylan Raiola, according to a report from 247Sports.
Donovan Raiola received a salary bump to $500,000 from $325,000, and is now signed through the 2024 season. Raiola is the only holdover on coach Matt Rhule’s staff from the Scott Frost regime.
Raiola’s coaching on the offensive line has paid dividends, as Nebraska finished second in the Big Ten in rushing yards with 176.8 yards per game.
While Raiola’s coaching chops are certainly what earned him the raise and extension, an added bonus could be the potential flip of his nephew Dylan, who is currently committed to back-to-back national champion Georgia. Dylan is visiting Nebraska for a visit this weekend, and the Huskers have been rumored to have momentum in his recruitment.
Dylan Raiola’s commitment would be a significant coup for coach Matt Rhule, as he attempts to resurrect a Nebraska program that is in a rebuild following the failed tenure of Frost. An elite quarterback prospect to build around would certainly jumpstart Rhule heading into year two in Lincoln.
