Midfielder Houssem Aouar’s links to Nottingham Forest in the summer could be affecting his future, it has been suggested.
The Reds were said to have agreed terms with the Frenchman during the transfer window. But a move failed to materialise as an agreement could not be reached with Lyon.
Although the 24-year-old is still with the French side, he has just a year left on his contract. And it seems uncertain what will happen next.

Foot Mercato, via Get French Football News, report Lyon are looking to offer him fresh terms. They dismiss claims that he has an agreement in place with Real Betis or any other club and that he has bought a home in Seville.
However, Sport Witness, citing ABC Sevilla, say Aouar is a “main target” for Betis for next season and they are “optimistic of opening talks in January” ahead of a free transfer next summer. Nevertheless, it is said the club are “cautious” because of Forest’s previous interest in the player.
It is suggested that there is a worry the Reds “could provide competition” again, with “their willingness to spend money” potentially pricing Betis out of the market. Fulham, Leicester City, Nice and Benfica have also previously been linked with Aouar.
The midfielder has been struggling for game time at Lyon this season. So far, he has made just one league appearance, starting a 2-1 victory over Ajaccio only to be taken off with 30 minutes gone.
Forest signed 22 players this summer as they put together a squad for the challenges of the Premier League. The centre of the pitch is one area where they have particular strength in depth.
