A number of TU Dublin students are facing uncertainty as the management company of a large accommodation block near their Grangegorman Campus are "seeking alternatives" due to their contract "not being extended".
Chubb Properties Ltd and Student Housing manage the JBs Student Campus at The Deaf Village on the Navan Road, but their current lease agreement will end on May 31. The accommodation offered sharing and single rooms to students throughout the academic year and also provided lettings during the summer months.
A spokesman for the management company told Dublin Live that they are "certainly not planning on closing down" but their location will be changed. He said they are currently seeking alternatives but "just can't guarantee anything as of yet but we are optimistic".

A source told Dublin Live that there are around 120 students living at the accommodation and this situation has left them "at this late stage, looking for somewhere new" for the next academic year. They added that some students had expected to be able to get a letting at the accommodation for the summer months.
The spokesman for Chubb Properties Ltd and Student Housing said that students were informed via email that summer accommodation would be unavailable past the end of their contract on May 31. "To clarify this would be us setting up a separate summer contract for them over 12 weeks and it is usually a very minimal amount who do this.
"But in any case we wanted to give all students enough notice just in case they were hoping we would have availability for this and that we could not take bookings for September 2023-June 2024 as we do not have accommodation confirmed elsewhere yet," he said.
The spokesman explained that the company usually takes bookings for the next academic year now but "because our location will change (nothing confirmed as of yet) we cannot accept bookings".
"We are hoping to seek alternatives that are viable for business," he said.
