UNC may not be dancing in the NCAA tournament this year, but that doesn’t mean the Tar Heels don't have any interest in the games going on.
While North Carolina saw its season end after declining to participate in the NIT, UNC fans were thrilled to see Duke crash out of the Big Dance in the round of 32 at the hands of Tennessee.
North Carolina legend Tyler Hansbrough couldn’t help but troll his alma mater’s arch rivals after their disappointing showing in the NCAA tournament. The 37-year-old took to Twitter to celebrate and declare himself a Volunteer after Tennessee’s big win.
While the former Tar Heel will always root for UNC, his second favorite team is probably whoever is playing against Duke. He made that much clear, taking a shot at the Blue Devils after their record-low scoring output during the loss against Tennessee.
Hansbrough enjoyed an outstanding four-year career in Chapel Hill, averaging 20.2 points per contest in 142 career games. The Tar Heels had plenty of success against Duke in those years—they went 6–2 against their in-state rival with the star forward on the roster.
Hansbrough hasn’t suited up for North Carolina since 2009, almost 15 years ago, but it seems his hatred for Duke hasn't simmered in the slightest.
