Unbeaten when scoring first: Rangers on course for historic Celtic away triumph

Rangers have taken a commanding 2-0 lead against Celtic at Parkhead, with first-half goals from Nicolas Raskin and Mohamed Diomande putting Barry Ferguson’s side in the driving seat at the interval.

The Light Blues have struggled on their recent trips to Glasgow’s east end, failing to win on any of their last eight visits and losing the last five, but history is firmly on their side now.

Since November 1988, Rangers have never lost a league match at Celtic Park after scoring first, winning 18 of the previous 22 encounters and drawing the other four.

With that formidable record behind them, they will be confident of ending their derby away drought and cutting into Celtic’s lead at the top of the Scottish Premiership table.

Celtic, who are without captain Callum McGregor, haven’t found their flow during the first 45 minutes.

But with a raucous home crowd behind them, Brendan Rodgers’ men will be desperate to mount a response. The second half promises to be a fascinating battle as Rangers look to hold firm and claim a massive Old Firm victory.

Connor Goldson was the last player to score a winning goal at Celtic Park, and that occurred all the back in October 2020.
