Una Healy has issued a stark warning to fellow arachnophobes after she found a large spider crawling across her body while at home.
The Thurles native took to Instagram to show followers the sickly creature, which appeared while sitting in her living room with her son Tadhg. Una quickly sprung into action after seeing the spider on her person and flicked it onto a nearby blanket.
Some followers claimed that it was a false widow spider, leading Una and her son to look up images online for further proof. The 41-year-old admitted she was petrified of the creatures, adding that she searched the room afterwards to make sure no hairy visitors were present.

Una wrote: “Some people said it was a lucky spider - it wasn’t lucky for me! Lucky it didn’t bite me. I’m just terrified now that there is a few of them in the house- I’m terrified of spiders anyway, especially ones like that that can bite you and hurt you.”
She then cautioned: “Beware of the false widow. They’re in Thurles.”
The singer also confirmed she would be deploying peppermint spray throughout her home to get rid of the insects. The oil based repellent is a humane way to keep creepy crawlies at bay, as it creates a barrier rather than killing off the creatures.
Una relocated back to Tipperary in 2020 with her two children after living in the UK for over 13 years. She admitted to feeling isolated from her family during the Covid-19 lockdown, revealing that her children are now “happier than ever” after moving to Ireland.
