Una Healy led flocks of friends and family to bid farewell to Lynsey Bennett before she set off on her travels for cancer treatment abroad.
Lynsey is making the journey to Germany this week to undergo vital cancer treatment at a clinic there.
And whilst she said the process has been exhausting and scary, she told how her heart is 'full' thanks to the support of her family and friends.
Seeing her off yesterday, her singing and presenting pal, Una, posted a snap of the pair together, and said: “Safe travels Lynsey.”
Longford native, Lynsey replied: “Thank you my gorgeous girlie. Can’t wait to catch up when I am home.”
The cervical cancer campaigner went on to thank her family and friends for their support before she left, adding: “Surround yourself with those who love you and support you..
Posting a picture with her nearest and dearest before she set off today, she said: “Grateful as always to have you all in my life to come and say goodbye before I leave.
“Few missing from pic when it was being taken… *Eithne, Laura, Charlene, Lucy, Fiona (but would truly of been lost without you all)."
Lynsey, who has been fundraising for the trip over the past few weeks said the process has been exhausting.
“Charlene only for you packing yesterday I would be leaving today with only a passport and probably fresh socks… as only had go ahead day before yesterday that payment had gone through.
“And my mind has been all over the place, and am exhausted (which I think is mainly due to post Covid issues)," she said.
The brave CervicalCheck campaigner added: “As scared as I am, my heart was so full last night seeing you all, thank you.”
The 33-year-old from Killoe was diagnosed with invasive cervical cancer in 2017.
She was told by doctors last year that she had just six to eight months to live but she has since left medics amazed by her progress.
Earlier this week, the mother-of-two shared the heartbreaking realities of her terminal cancer diagnosis as she prepared to leave for Germany to undergo a new treatment.
Speaking on Ireland AM, she opened up about ‘bad days’ along the way and told that her tumours have recently grown.
"I'm feeling good but obviously I have lots of really bad days and I often have bleeding from my bowel and lots of pain but sitting here right now, I'm having a good day since I woke up this morning thankfully," she told the Virgin Media programme on Tuesday.
Lynsey had been travelling to a cancer centre in Mexico to receive treatment there, and had been seeing "positive results.
However, she was told she couldn't fly, which made travelling as far as Mexico 'impossible'.
However, she is hopeful that travelling to Germany, which is much closer, for treatment similar to that which she underwent in Mexico will have a positive impact on her health.
She described the treatment in Mexico as "lifechanging" and she felt like she got some of her "power" back.
"I got to spend over a year now making memories and being able to get up in the morning and get things done that I never thought was going to be possible," Lynsey said.
"I saw the reports of how I should be in a wheelchair and eventually be bed-bound and minded and to still be here over a year on and to be good is mindblowing, I can't believe it.
"But don't be deceived that my life is perfect, it most certainly isn't."
Opening up about her current health situation, she added: "Technically my cancer is now acting in the way it should have when I got my prognosis back last year.
"Amazingly I've had a year where I've got that cancer to hold still, which should have been impossible.
"I don't know whether my body got such a shock with everything I was doing."
As Lynsey can't travel on a plane due to clot risks, she will spend over a day between ferry and trains to get to her destination this weekend.
