The U.S. and other countries suspended contributions to UNRWA following allegations that 12 of its workers in Gaza were involved in a recent Hamas attack. Investigations are ongoing to address these claims and ensure the agency's neutrality. Lazzarini rejected accusations that UNRWA perpetuates Palestinian refugee status, stating its existence is due to the lack of a political solution.
During a Security Council meeting, all members, including the U.S., expressed support for UNRWA, highlighting its vital role in aiding Palestinian refugees.
