As the war between Russia and Ukraine enters its second year, the United Nations General Assembly has adopted a resolution calling for an end to the conflict.
The UN has demanded that Russia leave Ukraine, calling for Russia to “immediately, completely, and unconditionally withdraw all of its military forces from the territory of Ukraine” and for a “cessation of hostilities”.
The resolution also reaffirms the Assembly’s commitment to the sovereignty, independence, unity, and territorial integrity of Ukraine.
The UN called for solidarity and urged member states to consider the global impacts of the war on food security, energy, finance, the environment, and nuclear security and safety.
A majority of countries (141) voted for the UN resolution, including the UK, Ireland, and most European countries.
