A group of United Nations experts has strongly condemned the recent series of explosions involving pagers and walkie-talkies in Lebanon, labeling them as violations of the human right to life and alarming breaches of international law. The experts expressed their concerns in a news release, emphasizing the need for immediate investigation and accountability for these acts.

The attacks, which resulted in the tragic loss of at least 37 lives and left over 3,000 individuals injured, have raised serious questions about compliance with international humanitarian law. The experts highlighted the indiscriminate nature of the attacks, pointing out the difficulty in determining the individuals responsible for the devices at the time of detonation.

According to the experts, the use of thousands of devices in simultaneous attacks further complicates the situation, as it undermines the principles of humanitarian law that require verification of targets and distinction between civilians and combatants. The lack of clarity regarding the intended targets raises concerns about the legality and morality of such actions.

The tragic events in Lebanon underscore the devastating impact of violence on innocent civilians and the urgency of ensuring justice and accountability for such heinous acts.
