Ulster University Tigers Basketball on road to Dublin for weekend National League final

A team of young women from Belfast will travel to Dublin on Sunday to play in the Basketball National League final.

Ulster University Tigers will play against NUIG on March 13, with a community of past players, parents and volunteers set to join them.

Securing their spot in the final was achieved through hard work and dedication from all players, says coach Patrick O'Neill.

Speaking to Belfast Live, he said: "This season we have been surprised at how successful we have been. Our goals pre-season were to be competitive in all games and had a target of winning six or seven games.

"We have had a phenomenal team culture and a real team motto of 'we not me' and everybody has come together, for each other. We amassed a record of 12-2 in the league and we are Northern Conference Champions, which we are all very proud of.

"After our semi-final win last weekend over Panthers, who were the second place team from the Southern Conference, we are now in the final on Sunday against a very, very good team.

"Ahead of the game, I just want the ladies to enjoy it. It is a reward for all the hard work each and every player has put in."

The final will take place on Sunday at 3pm at the National Basketball Arena in Dublin.
