Ulrika Jonsson has offered her 'heartfelt condolences' to Vanessa Feltz following her split with ex-fiancé Ben Ofoedu.
Vanessa, 60, announced her split from her long-term partner of 16 years over the weekend and has talked openly about her heartbreak since. Former Gladiators star Ulrika has now offered her advice to Vanessa and called into her TalkTV show to tell her to "embrace the pain".
Appearing via a video link on Vanessa's show on Wednesday night, the 55-year-old offered her advice to her friend through the difficult time. The Celebrity Big Brother star admitted she "wasn't feeling herself" following the split as she's completely lost her appetite and is "avoiding the biscuit tin".
Vanessa told viewers: "I know that you said: 'I know you heart's broken' – probably technically it's not really, but I know I'm not myself because I'm not even going near the chocolate biscuits and normally I would want to but I'm not. And it's not because I don't want to put weight on it's just because I'm not hungry and that's not me at all."
Ulrika responded: "Yes, well that often happens and I think that's the case in my life – the time's when I've been my skinniest is when I've not been my happiest. But, actually what you should remember is that you are in your best... you're like the fittest you've ever been, the best looking and you're in the greatest shape!"
Following on from her TV appearance on Wednesday, Ulrika continued her advice to her pal in her column for The Sun, she wrote: "For Vanessa it must feel like a cruel double whammy on account of her first husband having walked out on her and her daughters, following his infidelity.
"She must feel that adultery and betrayal continue to cast a shadow over her pursuit of happiness. The cheating and duplicity have nothing to do with her, but there are inevitably moments when you start to question yourself, who and what you are, and possibly even what you did wrong."
Detailing her break up advice, Ulrika advised Vanessa, and anyone else suffering from heartbreak, to turn to their friends. She wrote: "It is the immeasurable love and friendship of family, close friends – and sometimes even strangers – that will help keep you upright."
It comes after news that Vanessa is reportedly being eyed up by Celebs Go Dating bosses following her split. A TV insider told The Sun: "Talks with potential cast mates are going to begin next month and producers are willing to throw big money Vanessa's way in a bid to get her to sign on the dotted line."
