Ulrika Jonsson says Victoria Beckham's strict attitude towards food must make for a "miserable existence".
The TV presenter's comments come after Victoria's husband David claimed the Spice Girl has "eaten the same thing for the last 25 years" - grilled fish and steamed vegetables.
In a newspaper column Ulrika, 54, pondered what enjoyment Victoria, 48, gets out of life, adding: "I mean, the girl’s idea of 'comfort food' is wholemeal toast with salt on it.
"Even her hubby David says she’s eaten the same thing for the past 30 years, which sounds sad and must make for a miserable existence."
"Granted, she looks amazing on it. But is that really the point of food?"
Writing for The Sun, Ulrika went on: "Are you supposed to restrict and deny yourself meals in order that you can remain stick-thin and look eternally youthful?"
The Celebs Go Dating star also pointed out that Victoria is able to visit the best restaurants and employ top chefs, and then sticks to fish and vegetables.
In February, David, 47, confessed he and the fashion designer have only ever shared food from the same plate once over the years - with the former England captain dubbing the one-off incident "amazing" and one of his favourite memories, while speaking on the River Cafe Table 4 podcast.
"I get quite emotional about food and wine. When I'm eating something great I want everyone to try it," the dad-of-four said.
"Unfortunately, I'm married to someone who has eaten the same thing for the last 25 years. Since I've met Victoria, she only eats grilled fish, steamed vegetables. She'll very rarely deviate away from there."
The star then went on to recall the one time fashion icon Victoria relaxed her usual diet and enjoyed a bite or two off her husband's plate.
"The only time she's shared something that's been on my plate is when she was pregnant with Harper, and it was the most amazing thing," David fondly remembered.
"It was one of my favourite evenings. I can't remember what it was, but I know she's not eaten it since."
However Victoria has since responded to his comments, saying to Vogue Australia: "Talk about making me sound boring!"
She explained that she's a disciplined detox dieter, not a dull eater.
"What he meant is that he’s never met anyone who’s more disciplined with the way that they eat," she said.
"I eat lots of healthy fat: fish, avocado, nuts, that sort of thing.
"I do drink alcohol, unless I have a reason not to [but] I’ll detox from anything for three to six months where I won’t drink."
The former popstar went on: "I’m quite extreme in anything I do, whether it’s eating or working out or drinking or not drinking."
Posh also spoke about her exercise regime, which includes regular pilates, running for thirty minutes uphill on a treadmill, and “gruelling one-hour weights sessions”.
