The authorities, in a Telegram post, highlighted the swift advance of Russian troops, emphasizing the diminishing window of time for residents to gather their personal belongings and relocate to safer regions.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had previously cautioned about the escalating threat faced by Pokrovsk and neighboring towns in the Donetsk region, describing them as being under severe Russian assaults. Zelenskyy assured that essential supplies were being swiftly dispatched to the area to support the residents in need.
On the same day as Zelenskyy's warning, local authorities issued an official directive for the immediate commencement of evacuation procedures, underscoring the urgency of the situation.
