Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed regret over the outcome of his recent Oval Office meeting with US President Donald Trump, stating that it did not go as planned. In a statement released on Tuesday, Zelensky emphasized Ukraine's commitment to peace and readiness to negotiate for a lasting solution to the ongoing conflict.

Zelensky reiterated Ukraine's desire for peace, highlighting that the country is eager to engage in constructive dialogue to bring an end to the war. He expressed a willingness to work under President Trump's leadership to achieve a sustainable peace agreement that benefits all parties involved.

During the meeting in Washington last week, which was intended to include the signing of a deal on Ukraine's minerals, Zelensky noted that the discussions did not unfold as expected. Despite the setback, he emphasized the importance of rectifying the situation and moving forward with positive cooperation.

The Ukrainian leader's proposed framework for a peace agreement aligns closely with a plan put forth by French President Emmanuel Macron at a recent summit of Western leaders. Zelensky acknowledged the support provided by the US, particularly the assistance in maintaining Ukraine's sovereignty and independence, including the provision of Javelin missiles.

Zelensky's statement reflects Ukraine's eagerness to resolve the conflict through diplomatic means and underscores the country's appreciation for international support. As Ukraine remains committed to pursuing peace, Zelensky's call for renewed cooperation signals a willingness to engage in dialogue and negotiation to achieve a lasting resolution.
