The head of Ukraine's Foreign Affairs Committee has expressed confidence that the Ukrainian parliament will stand behind President Volodymyr Zelensky following his recent exchange with US President Donald Trump. Oleksandr Merezhko stated that there is 'absolutely no doubt' that the parliament will back Zelensky, emphasizing their pride in his courage to advocate for Ukraine.
Merezhko highlighted the unity among Ukrainians in supporting their president while also calling for wisdom and common sense to prevail in the situation. He expressed a desire for Trump to visit Kyiv and witness the conditions firsthand.

Regarding the security of Ukraine, Merezhko emphasized that a deal involving Ukraine's minerals is not a sufficient security guarantee, asserting that NATO membership is essential for ensuring the country's safety.
Furthermore, Merezhko voiced skepticism about the possibility of Trump proposing a plan that appeases Russia. He warned against appeasement, stating that it does not lead to peace but rather could escalate tensions and potentially trigger a larger conflict.
