Eurovision Song Contest winner Jamala is set to showcase her new album as part of the EuroFestival lineup.
The Ukrainian singer-songwriter stormed to victory in Stockholm's 2016 competition with her track, 1944. EuroFestival announced today that she will be bringing her untouchable sound direct to Liverpool as a key part of the city's celebrations.
Jamala will debut an extraordinary and poignant new album of music, based on Crimean Tatar folk songs. The performance will invite the audience on a journey across the Ukrainian peninsula Crimea, shining a spotlight on a culture and language most people know little about. QIRIM includes 14 ancient songs, each representing a part of Crimea.

Jamala has gathered songs from across her homeland for decades – more than 80 Crimean musicians joined the album’s creation, to preserve the peninsula’s history.
With the new album, she asks: “But is it possible to erase the memory of the monumental beauty of the music that was passed across generations?
She'll be accompanied by the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra on Pier Head's EuroVillage mainstage on May 11.
