There will be an Irish Congress of Trade Unions (ICTU) rally today outside the Russian embassy on Orwell Road, Rathgar.
The unions will stand in solidarity with Ukraine, one month on from the Russian invasion.
The ICTU Stand with Ukraine rally will take place at 5pm today with the Ukrainian Ambassador to Ireland, Ms. Larysa Gerasko and Congress President Kevin Callinan set to make speeches.
People from the Ukrainian community in Ireland will also get a chance to speak. The protest plans to express solidarity with workers in Ukraine who have suffered as a result of the invasion.
Bláthnaid Ní Chofaigh will read Seamus Heaney's poem ‘From the Republic of Conscience’ with piper Noel Pocock providing musical accompaniment.
The president of ICTU stressed that they want to call for a united Europe and want to show their support with the Ukrainian people.
Kevin Callinan said: " “We support peace. But it must be a just peace, built on respect for democracy, self-determination, and humanity.
"That’s why Congress is clear that Russian troops are unwelcome in Ukraine, and they must clear out. And our solidarity amounts to more than just words of concern, sympathy, and admiration for the strength and conduct of your struggle.
"That’s why we have added our voices to calls for strong and united European and global action against Russia for as long as this illegal invasion continues.”
General Secretary, Patricia King said: " “Ukrainian women, children, and men are living and dying in a horrific war of pain, depravity, and brutality.
"Those who have been able to leave the shelter of their basements have had to flee from cities and towns laid to ruin by Vladimir Putin’s ruthless warmongering. Ukrainians have inspired the world by standing against Putin’s invasion of a sovereign country”
"As many as 10 million Ukrainians have been displaced and hundreds of thousands of refugees are seeking shelter in Europe, including Ireland and we must not be found wanting in offering sanctuary and shelter in Ireland."
A pro-Ukraine change to the Russian Embassy's address has recently been approved by Dublin Councillors.
Zelenskyy Road - the Ukrainian President's name - and Independent Ukraine Road have both been mooted as potential new names for Orwell Road where the Embassy is located.
The Russian Embassy in Rathgar has been subjected to protests since the invasion of Ukraine a fortnight ago -including one man driving a truck through the gates.
The embassy had initially accused the Government of violating international law for allowing this incident to happen, and claimed members of the Gardai “stood idle” as the incident happened.
In a follow-up statement, the embassy said: “We would like to inform that additional measures have been undertaken by the Garda to ensure safety and security of the embassy and its personnel.
"The embassy appreciates cooperation by the Irish authorities in this matter.”
