Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has stated that Ukraine is making progress in the Kursk region, with troops successfully destroying a second bridge in Russian territory. The ongoing offensive in Kursk has seen Ukraine gaining ground since its surprise incursion last week, while facing pressure in its occupied eastern territories.

The assault in Kursk is part of Ukraine's strategy to boost morale, stretch Russia's resources, and ensure a fair negotiation process. Ukrainian forces have been strategically targeting Russian logistical capabilities, as evidenced by the recent destruction of bridges over the Seym river through precision air strikes.

Ukraine's military presence in Kursk is expanding, with gains being made in the region. The Ukrainian Defense Forces have taken control of significant territory, including the town of Sudzha, where a military commandant's office has been established.

Meanwhile, Russian forces are advancing in eastern Ukraine, particularly near the city of Pokrovsk in Donetsk region. The city serves as a crucial hub for Ukrainian military operations, prompting preparations for defense and civilian evacuations due to the proximity of Russian troops.

The intensifying conflict has led to the evacuation of civilians from Pokrovsk and surrounding areas, with nearly 1,800 people evacuated in the past week alone. Ukrainian Vice Prime Minister Iryna Vereshchuk has urged residents to prioritize their safety and evacuate to safer regions, emphasizing the support available from government, local authorities, and international organizations.

Further clashes have been reported in villages like Pivnichne and Zalizne, where Russian forces launched a significant assault. President Zelensky condemned the use of heavy weaponry by Russia, highlighting the resilience of Ukrainian forces in the face of aggression.

The ongoing conflict underscores the challenges faced by both Ukraine and Russia, with civilians caught in the crossfire. As the situation evolves, the international community continues to monitor developments and advocate for a peaceful resolution to the crisis.
