Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky recently spoke out against the panic caused by reports of a supposed significant attack, which authorities have confirmed as disinformation. The Defense Intelligence of Ukraine revealed that Russia had orchestrated an 'information and psychological attack' by spreading a false warning of a massive assault on Kyiv, falsely attributed to Ukraine's Defense Intelligence.
Zelensky emphasized that the dissemination of panic-inducing messages only serves to benefit Russia. He urged the public to remain vigilant, support the Ukrainian army, and not allow their emotions to be manipulated for others' gain.
Following these events, the United States embassy in Kyiv temporarily closed due to a perceived 'possible threat of a significant attack' on the city. While a State Department spokesperson, Matthew Miller, did not explicitly link the closure to the fake warning, he stated that such decisions are based on a variety of factors.
Zelensky expressed gratitude towards the US for providing a recent aid package worth $275 million, designated for military equipment. This assistance includes drones, shells for HIMARS, and artillery, bolstering Ukraine's defense capabilities.
