Former Eurovision Song Contest host Timur Miroshnychenko praised Liverpool for hosting on Ukraine's behalf.
The comments came in during Good Morning Britain while presenter Susanna Reid was in Ukraine to mark the anniversary of the Russian conflict. She spoke to members of the local Kyiv community, including the first lady Olena Zelenska, documenting the state of the country one year later.
Looking to the future, Susanna spoke to Eurovison's 2017 host Timor Miroshnychenko about the upcoming contest. The presenter spearheaded the show when it was held in Kyiv in 2017 alongside Oleksandr Skichko and Volodymyr Ostapchuk.

The European Broadcasting Union (EBU) deemed it unsafe for Ukraine to hold the contest given their current ongoing conflict. After bids between several nations and then cities, Liverpool was declared the most suitable candidate.
Discussing the show, Susanna said: "Liverpool is hosting the contest on behalf of Ukraine and it's a remarkable link. Will you be there in May?" Beaming with excitement, Timur said: "I hope so!
"[This isn't the first time Britain has helped someone host the contest] and Sam Ryder last year was absolutely this fantastic. The connection between the UK and the UA is very close this year so I think it's the best decision to host Eurovison in Liverpool."
