Flakes have fallen in parts of the UK overnight as forecasters expect chilly conditions across the country this week.
Heavy snow was seen in Dartmoor, Devon and other parts of the southwest in the early hours of the morning, with downpours also reported in lower-lying areas.
It comes as a string of weather warnings were issued by the Met Office for the next three days as temperatures plummet.
A yellow warning for snow is in place in the southeast until 8am on Monday, with extended advisories for snow and ice also applied for the far north of Scotland through to Wednesday morning.
Rush hour conditions could also prove tricky in an area covering much of the north of England and Northern Ireland today as "icy surfaces" are expected to develop following "wintry showers".
Giving a wintry outlook for the week ahead, Met Office Deputy Chief Meteorologist, Helen Caughey, said: “After a spell of wet and mild weather to start 2023, a brief cold spell will change the feel of our weather across the UK for a few days next week.
"As a northerly flow establishes, we’ll see temperatures decline with overnight frosts returning and the chance of wintry showers in the north. It will certainly feel cold in all regions too, with the northerly winds creating a notable windchill."
An earlier statement from the national forecaster at the weekend even forecast blistering lows of -10C in "sheltered glens" and areas of higher ground in Scotland.
The fresh round of wintry weather follows a weekend of continued flooding in parts of the UK, with a number of main roads closed in Worcester as the River Severn burst its banks for the second time in a week.

Wintry showers continuing across northern and northwestern coasts with some rain and hill snow in the far southwest. Elsewhere dry and clear. Cold with a widespread frost, severe in places.
Tuesday:
Cold with wintry showers, mainly across northern and western Scotland, Northern Ireland and parts of Wales and western England. Dry with sunny spells elsewhere.
Outlook for Wednesday to Friday:
Widely cold on Wednesday and Thursday with wintry showers, especially in the north and west. Some areas dry with sunny spells. Some rain in the west later Friday, dry elsewhere.
