Forecaster Richard Miles told The Standard: “There’s a warning for thunderstorms we expect to see this evening and overnight.
“There will be quite a bit of rain, lightning and possibly hail.”
However, the dry weather will return on Thursday with temperatures hitting the mid-20s.
Mr Miles continued: “Once those showers clear tomorrow morning, Thursday’s looking pretty fine again.
“Then on Friday, you could see a shower but largely fine. There is maybe the chance of a thundery shower again but it’s not looking like heavy rain on a prolonged spell.”
Mr Miles said the weekend will be “mostly dry and a bit breezy”.
“It’s getting cooler,” he added. “But that means the temperatures are returning to near normal by the weekend. It’s not going to feel cold, except for showers it will be largely fine and dry.”
It comes after the UK has recorded its hottest day of the year so far with the mercury hitting 27.5C at Heathrow on Tuesday.
London sweltered in the heat, with temperatures beating the previous high for the year so far which was 23.6C in Faversham, Kent on May 6.
