Brits can enjoy plenty of sunshine over the coming days and temperatures in the upper teens before strong winds, heavy rain and even snow arrives next weekend.
The outlook for this weekend is not bad for the time of the year with much of the country having sunny spells with the rain holding off.
After a blustery week the short term forecast is looking more settled but by mid-October a low pressure system is expected to have taken control giving a very different outlook.
BBC forecaster Tomasz Schafernaker said: “High pressure is building in from the south west so much lighter winds, much drier weather compared to what we had on Friday.
“So here’s the morning onwards then. Around midday light winds across England and Wales just a bit of fair weather cloud building, that’s pretty much it, temperatures will be around 15C or 16C so it will feel pleasant enough.
"More of a breeze in western Scotland and the northern isles and perhaps some showers here and also cooler around 12C or 13C. Very little change expected later in the day on Saturday.”
Then for Sunday a low pressure moves in from the north west bringing rain but it is moving slowly down the country.
"The weather front will be slow to move to the south in fact by the evening, probably reaching northern parts of Wales, maybe Lancashire but to the east of the Pennines generally bright at least dry and the further south you are the sunnier it will be, so in London it will be sunshine and 18C," continued Mr Schafernaker.
It will remain largely sunny through much of next week before the low pressure arrives with heavy showers and gusty winds a possibility.
Weather maps from independent forecasting group WXCharts show wintry shower over the Highlands of Scotland next weekend.
The chilly blast is expected to arrive on the mountains on the afternoon of Saturday 15, lasting into early Sunday morning.
