UK weather forecast: London set to be hotter than Ibiza as spring ushers in ‘seven days of sunshine’

Temperatures could soar to 20C in London as spring ushers in seven days of sunshine across southern England.

Parts of the capital are likely to be warmer than Ibiza on Tuesday as forecasters advise sunseekers to stock up on sunscreen.

After a weekend that included the hottest day of the year so far, Met Office spokesperson Aidan McGivern said Britons can look forward to a further “seven days” of sunshine.

“There will be more spring sunshine to come during the rest of the week,” he said.

“High pressure close to the east then becomes increasingly centred over the UK from Wednesday into Thursday and Friday.

“That high pressure isn’t going anywhere for the foreseeable.

“For the next seven days at least it’s going to bring plenty of warm sunshine.”

London could reach average temperatures of around 18Con Tuesday, while 16C is predicted in Cardiff, 15C in Belfast and 13C in Edinburgh.

Similar temperatures are forecast for the following days, with the mercury dropping one or two degrees towards the end of the week.

The pleasant conditions are due to the jet stream tracking well to the north of the UK, letting high pressure dominate from the east, the Met Office said.
