Brits are set for heavy rain and gales on Friday with yellow weather warnings in place before temperatures rise to a balmy 21C over the weekend.
Following on from a record breaking summer with extreme temperatures, the UK has been experiencing unseasonably warm weather so far in autumn with the mercury rising into the 20Cs.
And it is set to remain warm over the coming days before the temperature will begin to tumble in the second half of next week.
Yellow weather warnings from the Met Office are in place, though, for heavy rain in Northern Ireland and Western Scotland during the start of Friday.
For Northern Ireland the warning runs from midnight until 11am.
The Met Office states: “Heavy rain is likely to cause some disruption and flooding in a few places on Friday.”
People have been told: “Flooding of a few homes and businesses is likely. Bus and train services probably affected with journey times taking longer.
“Spray and flooding on roads probably making journey times longer.”
The advice is similar for people in the west of Scotland with the warning running there from 5am until 2pm on Friday.
BBC weather forecaster Nick Miller said: “With 18C in Edinburgh on Thursday, 21C in London, it doesn’t feel like the last few days of October out there.
"It will stay very mild into the weekend. Often windy and there will be further rain at times with the low pressure anchored to the west of the UK and around it spinning towards the UK these weather fronts that gives these spells of rain but also sunny drier moments at times too.
"All the while the air is coming from a long way south of us although temperatures take a little bit of a step backwards on Friday but head back up again during Saturday.
“Starting with a lot of rain along western parts on Friday morning, some strong winds too, gales in places, a lot of standing water, spray, in Northern Ireland as the heavy rain runs into western Scotland and here there could be some flooding and disruption.
"We will all see a spell of rain in the morning, not maybe much though across East Anglia and the south east compared to elsewhere.”
It is set to be a drier afternoon generally but it will be windy with 50 mph gusts and in the far north of Scotland it could reach 60mph on Friday afternoon, said Mr Miller.
The temperature on Friday will remain mild, in the mid teens and even possibly up to 20C in the south east of England. Another weather front will arrive from the south on Saturday bringing more rain which gradually moves up through the country.
But it will be mainly sunny in East Anglia and south east England with temperatures getting back to the low 20Cs.

Isolated showers in the northwest will gradually fade otherwise it will be dry with clear spells at first. A few fog patches developing before cloud and rain move north later.
Saturday:
Cloud and outbreaks of rain will move north, heavy at times in the west. Dry with sunny spells in the far north and later in the south. Very mild.
Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday:
A mix of sunshine or clear periods with blustery showers, sometimes merging into longer periods of rain, more frequent in the west and occasionally heavy and thundery. Still mild overnight.
