This bank holiday weekend will prove a mixed bag weather -wise, with southerners enjoying sunshine and high temperatures before a low-pressure system creeps down from the north.
Meanwhile those in the north and north-west will experience the opposite reversal of fortune, starting off wet and windy and being treated to some sun later in the weekend.
The remnants of a high-pressure system will still be lingering over England and Wales on Saturday, meaning a chilly start to the day but generally fine weather with sunny spells.
The Met Office's Alex Deakin says it's shaping up to be "a pretty good-looking Saturday" for the south with highs edging into the late teens.
It's a different story altogether for Scotland, with the Met Office predicting a very wet day with strong winds for the Highlands and the Western Isles and highs of 13C.
The rain is expected to creep over from Northern Ireland into central Scotland, spreading to the south and east by the end of the day.
The gloomy weather will be pushing its way south on Saturday night, bringing cloud but higher evening temperatures and a lower chance of frost on Sunday morning.
Showers are likely across England and Wales, but the south east may escape the rain altogether.
Meanwhile Scotland and Northern Ireland are set to enjoy warmer temperatures and sunshine on Sunday, with potential highs of up to 17C.
Sadly for England and Wales, the mercury is set to plummet back into the low teens "at best" - but temperatures should be back up again on Monday in time for Brits to make the most of the bank holiday, with highs of 17C and bursts of sunshine expected.
"A good deal of dry weather is expected on Monday with most areas only seeing some isolated showers and mild temperatures, widely in the mid-teens," Met Office Deputy Chief Meteorologist David Oliver said.
"There'll be plenty of fine weather around, you just need to pick your day," Alex said of the bank holiday weekend as a whole.
"It really does depend whether you get the cloud or the sunshine as to what type of weather you're going to have on Bank Holiday Monday, the Devil will be in the detail."
Forecasts for the week following remain sketchy this far ahead of time, but rain and clouds are expected in the north on Tuesday while the south will likely stay dry - a pattern that will likely repeat throughout the rest of the week.
Temperature in southern areas are likely to be "above normal" from Tuesday onwards, the Met Office said.
