UK weather: Brits braced for chilling -6C Arctic blast TONIGHT — hour-by-hour forecast

A cold snap continues to bring blistering weather to the UK and tonight some regions could see temperatures as low as -6C.

The Met Office has issued further yellow weather warnings for snow and ice, lasting until Thursday, as they warn that disruptions from wintery showers are still likely.

As temperatures continue to plummet, the UK Health Security Agency have also expanded their Level 3 Cold Weather Alert as they predict a "90% probability of severe cold weather and icy conditions" until 9am on Monday, January 23.

Tonight areas in the Scottish Highlands are set to see the lowest temperatures, with the region already at a chilly -4C, according to Ventusky's live temperature map.

Meanwhile, temperatures in the North West and Northern Ireland are currently sitting at around 0C, whilst most of Wales, the Midlands and the South sit at a slightly less chilly 1C and the South West is at 3C.

By 10pm temperatures in the north of Scotland could reach a freezing -5C, with the Highlands of eastern Perth and Kinross predicted to be the coldest area, while temperatures in the South of Scotland will also sit at a cold -2C.

Temperatures in Wales and much of the South will drop to 0C, while the Midlands remain at 1C and Northern Ireland will remain at 0C.

The South West, including Devon and Cornwall, are expected to see a warmer 3C.

At 11pm the weather in Scotland will remain chilly, with temperatures between -5C and -2C across the country.

Most of Northern Ireland will still sit at 0C, but temperatures will drop to -1 towards the top of the country.

Areas in Cumbria are expected to drop to -2C while temperatures in Wales and other areas of England will remain the same.

By 12am on Thursday morning areas in Scotland will hit that numbing -6C, with areas in the Highland Aviemore region seeing the coolest temperatures.

Edinburgh and Glasgow will sit at 0C, while many other areas in Scotland will drop to between -5C and -3C.

Temperatures in Cumbria will continue to be around -2C but most areas around the rest of the UK will be at 0C, apart from the South West, which could see temperatures up to 4C.

By 1am some areas of Scotland will rise to a slightly less glacial temperature of -2C, but the coldest areas in the Highlands will still be -6C and areas in the south of England could hit -1C.

From 2am several areas in Wales will move into the negatives at -1C and more areas in the South of England will reach the same chilly temperature.

Glasgow will also drop to -1C, while temperatures further north in Scotland average at around -4C, with -6C still seen in some areas.

Liverpool will be a warmer 2C but other areas of the North West will also hit negative temperatures of -1C.

From 3am much of the midlands will also drop to -1C and only a few areas in the South West and North West are expected to breach 0C.

Several areas of the Midlands will come back up to 0C though at 4am, as temperatures remain chilly in the north of England and Scotland.

It won't be until about 8am that the coldest areas of Scotland come above -6C and even then they'll still sit at -5C.

Meanwhile, the rest of the UK is also in for a chilly start to Thursday morning with temperatures between -2C and 0C in most areas.
