The UK enjoyed a mixture of warm conditions and wet weather over the Bank Holiday weekend but temperatures are set to drop as the winds begin to pick up.
As Britons enjoyed the three-day weekend, which will come into play next week as well ahead of King Charles' Coronation, temperatures reached peaks of 19C in southern England as glorious sunshine hit many parts of the country.
That did not deter the pockets of showers which punctured the better weather up and down the UK albeit in warmer conditions than recent days.
Wales saw highs of between 14C and 16C during the course of Bank Holiday Monday, while Scotland also hit the mid teens despite prolonged periods of rain to kick off May.
The slight rise in temperature is only a minor uplift unfortunately as the next couple of days are set to be below average for this time of year.
With high pressure towards the southwest of the UK and the isobars tightening, it is expected for winds to pick up during the middle part of the working week.
Tuesday should be drier across the whole of the UK, with sunny spells breaking through in the afternoon with Northern Ireland, Wales and southern England hitting highs of around 16C.
Met Office meteorologist Rachel Ayers said: "Away from Northern Ireland and Scotland, it will be quite a cloudy start to Tuesday with any mist and fog lifting and breaking through the morning. It will be mostly dry though, we might see the odd spot of rain and drizzle in any thicker cloud.
"Sunshine will start to break out as well as we go into Tuesday afternoon as that cloud starts to break up and the best of the sunny spells will be across the southwest and the far north east, though with northerly to north easterly winds, particularly down the North Sea coast, temperatures will be feeling quite noticeably cooler compared to Monday."
A band of rain on the west coast will work its way north eastwards into Northern Ireland on Tuesday evening and reaching western Scotland before heading into Wednesday.
Ms Ayers added: "So a milder night to come on Tuesday, though, further south with a few clearer skies around into the evening, a little cooler than what we're expecting for Monday and maybe the odd patch of mist and fog on Wednesday morning."

Most parts dry with rather a lot of cloud but also some sunny spells. Feeling chilly in the north and east, warmer further south and west.
Outlook for Wednesday to Friday:
Largely settled Wednesday; brisk southeasterly winds developing later. Becoming more unsettled from the south during Thursday, with risk of thunderstorms for England and Wales Friday. Temperatures slowly recovering by Friday.
