UK Summons Israeli Ambassador Over Killing Of Aid Workers In Gaza

Andrew Mitchell in formal

The United Kingdom has taken a strong stance against the killing of seven World Central Kitchen aid workers in Gaza, including three British nationals. The British Minister for Development and Africa, Andrew Mitchell, summoned the Israeli ambassador in London to express the government's unequivocal condemnation of the incident.

During the meeting, Mitchell emphasized the need for a quick and transparent investigation into the matter, with full accountability and sharing of findings with the international community. He also called for Israel to establish an effective deconfliction mechanism to ensure humanitarian access and urged for an immediate humanitarian pause to facilitate aid delivery and ensure the safety of hostages.

World Central Kitchen, the organization to which the slain aid workers belonged, announced the tragic loss and promptly suspended its operations in the region. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu acknowledged that the military unintentionally targeted innocent individuals and pledged a thorough investigation at the highest levels of the Israel Defense Forces.

The incident has sparked international concern and calls for a sustainable ceasefire to prevent further loss of life and facilitate humanitarian efforts in the conflict-affected region.
