The season of strike action is still very much upon us with more workers walking out in the coming months.
Last year, we saw unions across all industries including railways, NHS, education and civil servants take to the picket line in protest. Many are demanding wage increases in line with inflation, which currently sits at around 10%.
Rishi Sunak’s government, however, insists that the money is not available to grant any salary increases despite the continuously rising cost of living. On February 1, hundreds of professionals from many sectors walked out and it looks like that action is set to continue.
With more strike action planned and further talks ongoing, the potential for disruption continues to grow. Here are all the strikes planned for the next few weeks.

Teachers
The National Education Union (NEU) has scheduled strikes for members in the northern regions of England on February 28. Members across England and Wales, including teachers in sixth-form colleges in England, will stage a 48-hour walkout on March 15 and 16.
More than 100 university staff of the University and College Union (UCU) had originally agreed to strike for 18 days across February and March, however the first two weeks have been paused to allow for negotiations to continue. Strikes on March 16, 17, 20, 21 and 22 are set to continue at a number of educational institutions.
NHS workers
From 6am on March 1, nurses at more than 120 NHS employers in England will begin a 48-hour action.
Junior doctors will then strike for 72 hours in March, however, the exact dates have yet to be confirmed. March 15 has been the reported date.
GMB ambulance workers have been striking across the region and have a further two strike dates in the diary on March 6 and March 20.
Railway staff
Members of the Rail, Martine and Transport union (RMT) at 14 train operators will walk out and then launch a ban on overtime on March 16, 18 and 20.
Civil servants
Up to 100,000 officials from 123 government departments are said to be walking out on March 15, the day the chancellor delivers his Spring Budget.
Certain Ofsted staff will take strike action from Monday to Wednesday every week in March. Driving tests face further disruption as DVSA staff will undertake a rolling programme of strike action across the regions throughout March. The PCS union says that this will result in the “large-scale cancellation of driving tests”.
