Brits who missed out on a white Christmas are set to see snow fall once more before the New Year.
Icy weather is set to hit the UK in the coming days with subzero temperatures whirling across from the Atlantic.
The first area to be scattered in snow will be Scotland, according to forecasters who say the first snowflakes will land as soon as Boxing Day.
Other parts of the country are also expected to be covered in the white stuff including the whole of Northern Ireland.
While the rest of the UK is set for a blistering downpour made worse by winds blowing in clouds from the west, according to WXChart.
Forecasters say the last week of 2022 will be a dark and wet one, with lots of cloud for London and several downpours.
Temperatures will reach around 10C on Friday but conditions will be mainly wet throughout the day.
The rain will continue on New Year's Eve, clearing at around 7pm as revellers head out to celebrate the start of 2023.
A Met Office spokesperson said: "Some roads and railways likely to be affected with longer journey times by road, bus and train services.
"A very small chance of interruptions to power supplies. Probably some icy patches on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths."
Brits were warned to take care as wintry showers are likely to lead to icy surfaces, causing some disruption to travel services – particularly higher routes.
"It starts turning colder again through the latter part of Christmas Day and into Boxing Day," said meteorologist Jim Dale, from the British Weather Services.
"Cold air comes down from the Arctic through the next 24 hours, although it may stall halfway down the country and move away.
"However, Boxing Day will be much colder for many."
A sudden change in wind direction would send temperatures plummeting, according to Met Office meteorologist Alex Deakin.
"It is going to be a mild day on Christmas day, but later on, as winds switch direction, colder air may push back across the Western Isles and Highlands of Scotland, which could allow some late snow flurries here," he said.
"As we go through the night, we do open the door to more snow showers coming in, and some very gusty conditions with snow showers peppering western Scotland as we head into Boxing Day."
But the Met Office forecasts that there will be "some sunshine for all."
They shared: "Mainly dry in the southeast, but wintry showers will affect some northwestern areas, with further snow, especially over Scottish hills. Colder generally, emphasised by the wind."
The outlook for Tuesday, according to MeteoGroup UK, "starts with widespread rain across most of the UK."
