The UK is tipped to take over the Eurovision Song Contest 2023 if Ukraine is unable to perform its duties as host.
The winner of the Eurovision Song Contest typically hosts the show the following year but news has emerged the BBC will organise the event next year if Ukraine is unable to do so. Jose Manuel Perez Tornero, the president of Spain’s state broadcaster RTVE, said the United Kingdom may very well be on its way to presenting the 2023 broadcast in a recent newspaper interview.
Speaking to Far Di Vigo, he said: "We don’t want to be left with the mirage of a good result. We are going to go out to win next time. We were also interested in organising 2023 Eurovision. But if Ukraine resigns, it will be the BBC that organises it."

Sam Ryder was this year's runner-up as he represented the United Kingdom with his rock ballad 'Space Man' and bagged the UK its highest placement in over 20 years. Third in the running was Spanish entry Chanel with her electro-pop bop 'Slo Mo' which is the reason Spain expressed such an interest in next year's show.
Rumours have emerged Glasgow will be the chosen host city as its OVO Hydro arena has an empty diary for the entirety of May which is when Eurovision airs. There was initial speculation over whether or not Ukraine would be able to host the show after it was invaded by Russia but Ukraine’s Minister of Culture and Information, Oleksandr Tkachenko, claimed several weeks ago there wouldn't be a problem.
